The mid-60's music scene was dominated by British Groups, three of which became household names 'The Beatles', 'The Rolling Stones' and ..Herman's Hermits, who are one of the most enduring and successful groups who are still travelling and working throughout the world. From their beginning in Manchester, England on April 1st 1964, the band has chalked up over 23 top twenty single records, 10 hit albums, 3 major movies and countless television shows and concert tours all over the world - up to date they have total record sales of over 75 million.
For many years now UNION GAP uk have achieved continued success on the 60's circuit performing at all the major festivals, theatres, holiday centres and corporate events throughout the U.K. and Europe faithfully recreating songs released by Union Gap including: 'Lady Willpower' - 'Woman, Woman' - 'This Girl Is A Woman Now' - 'Over You' - 'I'm Losing You' - 'To Love Somebody' & 'YOUNG GIRL' Together with many other all-time favourite songs of this golden era........
Following on in the wake of Merseybeat, and the R&B of The Stones, etc, The Fortunes added another dimension to the sound of the classic pop song with their special ingredients of sophisticated orchestration, dual lead vocals, and stylish counter-melodies. The result was a succession of distinctive and distinguished hit records including 'You've Got Your Troubles', 'Here It Comes Again' and, continuing into the seventies with more successful releases such as 'Storm in a Teacup' and 'Freedom Come, Freedom Go'.
The Tony Macauley & Barry Mason composition Love Grows provided the first breakthrough for session singer Tony Burrows and Edison Lighthouse in 1970, selling 4.5 million copies worldwide. While Tony Burrows success continued with White Plains, Brotherhood of Man, and First Class, his original backing group toured briefly under the name Edison. Tony Macauley meanwhile retained the name Edison Lighthouse, and found another line-up for touring and recording.
